  • Wednesday Service: Fix Your Thoughts on Jesus

Church members held Wednesday service on August 30, continuing in the study of the book of Hebrews. Verses 1 to 6 of chapter 3 teach us once again what the focus of the whole book is – to fix our thoughts on Christ in order that we don’t lose our confidence in what we heard and the hope of glory we live for. This message is for Christians, those who share in the heavenly calling – the word of God through which we were saved for God’s Kingdom and were born again as holy brothers and sisters not through the works but through God’s grace. Christ is both the apostle – he is the word, the truth, the revelation of…

    Berlin Summer Retreat Concluded

Berlin Immanuel Church concluded the summer retreat on Sunday, August 27, with a message on salvation. The message discussed the great worth of our salvation, challenging unbelievers to consider Christ and believers to thankfulness. Looking the drama of salvation depicted in the Bible leaves us with amazement and conviction of God’s love for us. Apostle Paul, in RomansĀ 8:32, was convicted of the future glory we have in Christ because just as God did not spare his own Son for us all, we know that his grace has no end and he will accomplish his goal for humanity covering the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord. We must understand what we need to be saved from to…

Wednesday Service: Jesus Our Merciful and Faithful High Priest

The church members held Wednesday service on August 23, continuing in the book of Hebrews 2:14-18. The passage speaks about the reason of the Son of God becoming fully human like one of us. Verse 17 speaks of one of the core doctrines of Christianity that Christ was fully human just as he was fully divine. He shared in our humanity because our salvation needed to be secured by death. Just as the sin entered the world through Adam and not through angels (vs 16), the Son comes to us as a fully human who can die, not as an angel, to carry our sins and the punishment which is death and thus breaking the power of sin and death…

Wednesday Service: It Was Fitting that the Son Should Suffer

Berlin Immanuel Church members held Wednesday service on July 26, continuing in the book of Hebrews 2:9-13 speaking about the reasons why Jesus was made perfect through suffering. Hebrews 2:1-3 urged us not to neglect so great salvation and pay the most careful attention to the word of God. That means considering Christ deeply and even asking questions such as why was it God’s will for his Son to suffer and die. The author of Hebrews says in verse 10 that it was fitting that God should make the author of our salvation perfect through suffering. A similar word in Hebrews 5:8-9 tells us that the Lord learned obedience from what he suffered, but it is not as if Jesus…

Sunday Service: Beholding the Glory of the Lord

Berlin Immanuel Church gathered on Sunday, July 29, with a message taken from 2 Corinthians 3:12-18 continuing on the topic of love. In order to really be able to obey the command to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, love our enemies and love our brothers and sisters in Christ with sincere affection, we can only do so if we are transformed from inside out. Lord called us to display the same degree of love showed us in John 13:35 but when we have no real desire in our hearts to love our neighbor and our enemy, this holy commandment becomes a burden that is imposed on us from outside, so we either rebel against it or try to…
