Sunday Service: Beholding the Glory of the Lord

Berlin Immanuel Church gathered on Sunday, July 29, with a message taken from 2 Corinthians 3:12-18 continuing on the topic of love. In order to really be able to obey the command to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, love our enemies and love our brothers and sisters in Christ with sincere affection, we can only do so if we are transformed from inside out.
Lord called us to display the same degree of love showed us in John 13:35 but when we have no real desire in our hearts to love our neighbor and our enemy, this holy commandment becomes a burden that is imposed on us from outside, so we either rebel against it or try to obey legalistically, with our own power as slaves, just as the Israelites in old testament because they had a veil over their hearts. But when we turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away (2 Cor 3:14) and we are given Holy Spirit who transforms our hearts so we can love and obey God’s word with joy sincere desire.
The Spirit of the Lord is given to us when we turn to the Lord, but apostle Paul is teaching us a deep secret that it is while we are beholding Christ that the Spirit is doing the work of transformation in us, changing us from one degree of love to another into the likeness of Christ. The Berlin members wish to be the disciples that show Christ in their lives by loving one another with their eyes focused on the glory of Christ.
